about chiyoh (mild spoilers)
Mar. 6th, 2016 07:10 pmChiyoh has spent most of her life in Lithuania, where she fed and cared for an imprisoned man who murdered and cannibalised Hannibal Lecter's infant sister. When she refuses to leave in order to aid in the hunt for Dr. Lecter, Will Graham sets the prisoner free. Instead of seek help, he pursues and attacks Chiyoh. Once he is dead, she agrees to accompany Graham and the two travel by train towards Italy. Recognizing something in him reminiscent of Lecter, she lures close to her before pushing him to the tracks. She is seen again in America, where she defends Lecter at a distance, sniping four of Verger's men dead before disappearing.
Her rifle bears the Lecter family coat of arms. She initially arrived in Europe as a handmaiden to Hannibal Lecter's Aunt Murasaki and was considered by him to be surrogate companion/sister in place of Mischa. He was not able to compel her to murder and allowed her self-imposed exile at the decaying manor. Their relationship was complicated but platonic. Neither implies animosity towards the other throughout the series and she is not glimpsed in the epilogue. Vague pre-canon inferences from the Hannibal Rising novel may be used sparingly.
